Outline of session: This mandatory session is a refresher on the law and C-CAMP's policy on the prevention and redressal of sexual harassment at the workplace. It is intended to create awareness about important aspects of the law and policy, such as: what is sexual harassment, who is an 'employee' and what is the 'workplace'. It will also provide some practical steps for preventing instances of workplace sexual harassment, as well as briefly outline the process for redressal of complaints – contacting IC members, inquiry procedure, rights of employees, confidentiality obligations, etc.
Objectives of session: It will enable employees to recognise behaviour that amounts to sexual harassment, exercising self-awareness to prevent inappropriate behaviour, knowing how to contact IC members for assistance, and understanding the process and procedure of inquiries.
Speaker: Ms. Shruti Vidyasagar is a lawyer based in Bengaluru. She has been registered as an advocate in the Bar Council of Karnataka since January 2005, and has pursued a wide-ranging legal practice since then. She advises several organisations on the law of prevention and redressal of workplace sexual harassment in India. Her work includes advice on law and compliance and policy drafting. She is a member on several internal committees and conducts awareness sessions as well as inquiries into complaints.
In addition to her legal practice, Shruti has edited various articles, books, and journals on law, society, development, business, and management.
