Bio-incubation at C-CAMP

The Bio-incubator at C-CAMP is funded by BIRAC under the BioNest Scheme and NITI Aayog under Established Incubation Centre (EIC) AIM scheme.

Biotech innovations are risky, resource-heavy and need state-of-the-art infrastructure, making incubation with a world-class incubator plus innovation ecosystem a must. Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms or C-CAMP, an initiative supported by Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India has created a high-end bio-incubation facility of 44,000 sq ft supported by various Govt agencies, both at State and Central level. C-CAMP has supported close to 200 innovative start-ups as resident incubatees & their entire teams at C-CAMP with not only access to high-end technology platforms but also through workshops/seminars, networking sessions, mentorship sessions and access to the vibrant entrepreneurial eco-system that we have been able to build at C-CAMP. Other than the in-house resident incubatees, C-CAMP has supported several innovative start-ups virtually till date.

Vision: C-CAMP is keen to continue supporting innovative start-ups with high societal impact through a vibrant, dynamic and proactive innovation ecosystem to help early stage startups leapfrog into market success.

In just over 10 years of its existence, C-CAMP has emerged as one of the most thriving hubs for high-tech deep science innovations in the field of life sciences in the country. We have directly funded, mentored or incubated 450 startups and are associated with more than 2000 startups across India. The total number of biotech startups in India is 6000 which translates to 1 in 3 startups have benefited from C-CAMP. * https://www.investindia.gov.in/sector/biotechnology

C-CAMP's entrepreneurial activities include providing high-end laboratory space and infrastructure through bio-incubation, providing early stage funding through its Investment Program, providing scientific and non-scientific/business mentorship through the Mentorship & Acceleration programs and running several programs with a focus on different areas of unmet needs including, Maternal & Child Health, Antimicrobial Resistance, Diagnostics, COVID-19 and Med-tech and Agriculture and Digital Health.

Bio-incubation:
C-CAMP's Bio-incubator offers a "plug & play" model wherein we provide a fully equipped, dedicated lab space, basic benchtop equipment and high end equipment with access to Technology Platforms, services and clean rooms/culture rooms, which allow the start-up companies to “start the ball rolling” to help begin operations in terms of the research projects without any initial funding source.  Along with laboratory space startups have access to equipment rooms housing large standalone equipment for their day to day work. The facilities also include state of the art Biosafety facilities for work involving risk group BSL1 and BSL2. These facilties are equipped with a complete range of equipment for tissue culture work.

The bio incubation program has been established and supported over the years with the support of BIRAC BioNEST, Niti Aayog AIM and Department of IT, BT Govt of Karnataka. Through these support, C-CAMP has built Agriculture focused facility as well as Med Tech Facility which are accessible to the incubated startups. C-CAMP is maintaining, constantly upgrading availability of cutting-edge facilities and providing access to start-ups.
