C-CAMP and Siemens Healthineers join forces as key stakeholders in affordable and accessible healthtech development

Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) and Siemens Healthineers have formed a partnership to explore synergies in innovation and entrepreneurship development in healthcare domain with specific focus on Diagnostics, a core strength of both partners. The agreement’s primary aim is to combine the technical expertise and scientific resources built by C-CAMP and Siemens Healthineers to enable common access to state-of-the-art diagnostics assays, clinical testing capacities, AI technology, hardware and software automation solutions that align with local needs and local ecosystems.  

The MoU was signed by C-CAMP CEO & Director, Dr Taslimarif Saiyed and Dileep Mangsuli, Executive Director, Siemens Healthineers at a ceremonial event held at C-CAMP today.

Dr Saiyed on the occasion of the inking of the pact said " Siemens Healthineers is a global medtech leader that is advancing healthcare through technology-led innovations. C-CAMP as a growing player in indigenous healthtech development with well-established programs in Molecular Diagnostics, Bio-Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development is delighted for this opportunity to work in tandem with Siemens Healthineers. This partnership will allow cross-pollination of ideas that can make healthcare more affordable and accessible for the vast majority of our population who are otherwise untouched by the latest advancements in medical technology.”

Mr Mangsuli welcomed the partnership by observing that, “C-CAMP has successfully channelled indigenous innovations to make healthcare more affordable and available, specifically focussing on the underserved population. These are strongly aligned with our focus on expanding access to care and fighting the most threatening diseases. Through this partnership, we strive to harness India’s innovative potential to create breakthrough solutions.”

The partnership formalized for a year, will focus on diagnostics in point-of-care, in vitro or laboratory testing, imaging & genomics, CRISPR-Cas testing etc with possibilities in antibiotic susceptibility, antimicrobial resistance, onco-assays and biomarkers, and AI-based rapid triaging.

C-CAMP through its Indigenization of Diagnostics program or InDx has built capacity for indigenous development, scale up and manufacturing of affordable Molecular Diagnostics Kits & reagents by establishing a strong supply chain network of Indian MSMEs and a one-of-its-kind academia-industry connection for knowledge exchange. It also houses one of India’s most high-end technology portfolios including top-of-the-line Omics platforms. Siemens Healthineers with a presence in every continent, offers cutting-edge healthcare infrastructure with specialties in Diagnostic Imaging, in vitro Diagnostics and Point of Care Solution & Services at a global scale.  The partnership aims to leverage this area of mutual strength and build a long term partnership that can expand beyond diagnostics.
